Not a creature was stirring… except the one stirring this Healthy Cinnamon Milkshake!
Can you believe it?! Christmas is finally here after 24 days of opening advent calendar doors and rushing around shops for Christmas presents. With glowing lights, glistening tinsel and a majestic Christmas tree, festive songs are playing and joy fills the air.
Best of all, there’s lots of exciting food – (excluding the measly sprouts of course)!
Every Christmas Eve, sweet treats and a drink are traditionally left out for Father Christmas and his reindeer. Whether it’s mince pies and fruit punch, or homemade cookies and milk, the jolly good fellow needs a little energy boost along the way.
So how about a healthy cinnamon milkshake?
Hiding a banana and nutritious spices, this drink is perfect for Christmas Eve.
To sweeten it, we’re using maple syrup (or honey), meaning it is refined-sugar-free. For a bit of thickness, we’ll add some oats (make sure they’re certified gluten free if required).
I used semi-skimmed milk, but you could use an unsweetened dairy-free alternative such as rice or oat milk. As well as being my two favourite milk alternatives, they are neutral in flavour – if anything slightly sweet. You could use almond, but it may add a tangy taste to the drink – same goes for coconut milk.
Simply place the ingredients in the blender and whiz them into a milkshake!
Perhaps there are presents underneath the Christmas tree. Maybe you’ll be meeting up with family or friends for Christmas. Just remember that at this wonderful time of the year, it’s about joy, love, giving, gratitude, and celebration. And food!! Smile and laugh, with Christmas spirit.😃🎄🎉
